Front-End Engineering
The basic goal of the design process is to produce a design of high technical quality that meets client requirement in a cost-effective and timely manner. FEED is one of the success keys to Project or Task success.

The primary characteristics of the design process that contributes to the high level of quality of the engineering product are:
-
A clear definition of project objectives or task (a definitive scope)
-
A specific plan for meeting project objectives and prime contract requirements
-
Early documentation and approval of Design Criteria and performance requirements
-
Iterations at the appropriate design stage to allow requirements to be refined and alternate designs to be assessed to optimize the process and its results
-
Integration of pertinent interdisciplinary design information and technical knowledge
-
Identification of process logic and tasks required to be completed before proceeding to the next phase
